Laboratory for Planetary Science and Deep Space Exploration
Laboratory of Planetary Science and Deep Space Exploration was firstly built in 2011. As an important part of Key Laboratory of Planetary Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), the main research directions include deep space exploration of asteroids and exo-planetary science. It consists of a team of young and vigorous scientists, including 1 professor, 4 associate professors, 3 assistant professors, 1 postdoctoral fellow, 3 doctoral students as well as 5 graduate students. The scientific group focuses on the research work of deep spac e exploration of asteroids and planetary science. Particularly, two great achievements of “precisely determining the orbit of asteroid 4179 Toutatis in the extended mission designed for Chang’e-2” and “investigating asteroid 4179 Toutatis based on flyby data by Chang’e-2” have won “top ten progresses in astronomical science and technology” in 2012 and 2013, respectively. At present, the group has more than 20 National Natural Science Foundation of China as well as other important national foundations. We also welcome other talented scientists with dreams to join us, and contribute to the development of planetary science and deep space exploration technology!
