Minor Planet Named after Fan Jinshi

A minor planet was named after Fan Jinshi at a naming ceremony in Dunhuang, northwest China's Gansu Province on Monday.

Fan Jinshi, a Chinese archaeologist and heritage specialist who has devoted her life to cultural relic research in Dunhuang, was dubbed the daughter of Dunhuang.

The asteroid with the international number of 381323 was discovered on October 9, 2007. The Purple Mountain Observatory of China Academy of Sciences applied to the International Astronomical Union for naming the asteroid Fan Jinshi to commemorate Fan's devotion. (ECNS)
