Abstract: Synthetic tracking (ST) is a powerful technique for detecting and characterizing faint moving objects. It uses short exposures to avoid streaked images of moving objects, thus minimizing trailing loss. Additionally, it offers the flexibility of tracking both targets and reference stars by integrating frames in post-processing. ST is enabled by two modern technologies: CMOS cameras and GPUs. This talk introduces ST and its applications in observing near-Earth objects, Earth-orbiting satellites, and objects in cislunar space.
