Abstract: Since the discovery of turbulence in molecular clouds in the 80's, the study of ISM turbulence has been primarily based on numerical simulations. The lack of access to the line-of-sight dimension makes observational assessment of cloud turbulence very challenging. Sophisticated methods have been developed to derive turbulence properties from position-position-velocity (PPV) data, but they are often too complex to be widely adopted and, most importantly, lack experimental validation. In this talk, I will introduce several existing methods, as well as our newly developed simple recipes for assessing turbulence footprints in PPV cubes. Some of these methods are tested with simulated molecular clouds.
