Abstract: We shall describe the scope and scale of the SKA Observatory and its international membership, discuss its key science goals and some of the scientific highlights emerging from the SKA precursors and pathfinders. We shall show the current status of the Observatory, including the most recent information from the two telescope construction sites. We shall discuss how SKAO is leading the way in terms of the generation, handling and analysis of enormous scientific datasets and discuss how young scientists from China might best engage with SKA science and the SKA community.
