Abstract: Usually in the literature, the behavior of a massive vector boson in the thermal plasma remains unconcerned. I studied the thermal corrections of a vector boson in the real time formalism, and applied the results in two cases, the leptogenesis induced by a electroweak scale sterile neutrino, and the freeze-in process of the dark matter mediated by a massive vector boson. In both cases, the dispersion relations of transverse/longitudinal/Goldstone degrees of freedom play important roles.
