LU Benkui (1941- ), born in Haian, Jiangsu Province. He graduated from the department of Astronomy of Nanjing University in 1963 and got his degree at PMO in 1967. He served as the director of Purple Mountain Observatory from 1996 to 2000. He was engaged in celestial mechanics.
