  • The new radome was successfully installed for the 13.7 m millimeter radio telescope

    On August 9, 2011, the new radome was successfully installed on 13.7 m radio telescope. The project was supported by the special funds for renewal of astronomical equipment. The radome M68-81-9000 bought from the United States ESSCO company, and adopted 3-ply ESSCOLAM 10 membrane. XU Ye and ZUO Yingxi were the commander-in-chief for this project. With the joint efforts of technical supervisor from ESSCO, Nanjing Astronomical Instruments Co., Ltd. and Qinghai station, the installation was completed after 19 days of hard work.

    The new radome will significantly improve the efficiency of the antennas, and make an important contribution to the Galactic Plane molecular lines survey the main project of the next 5-10 years.
