  • New Mechanism for Producing Short-Period Terrestrial Planets

    A potensional new formation mechanism for short-period earth-like planets in the late stage of planet formation though a collision-merger scenario was found by Prof. JI Jianghui, Purple Mountain Observatory, Chinese Academy of Sciences, which will be published in the Astrophysical Journal Letters (727: L5, 2011 January 20). This work is finished with the support of the Australian Academy of Sciences during the authos's stay at UNSW, and with the help of Prof. Chris Tinney of UNSW Astrophysics Department.
