The awarding ceremony and workshop of the 2nd National Orbit Design Competition for Deep-space Exploration was hold at Xian Satellite Measuring and Controlling Center on Jun 22, 2010. More than 30 national teams competed, Purple Mountain Observatory team (JI Jianghui , XIA Yan and LU Tao ), Joint team of Nanjing University and Purple Mountain Observatory (Rongyu Sun) won the prize. This competition was hosted by Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, Xian Satellite Monitor and Control Center, Center for Space Science and Applied Research (CAS), and the State Key Laboratory of Aerospace Dynamics. The topic of the competition is to design a best control strategy to take a multiple targets exploration for Mars and minor solar celestial bodies and land a Mars detector. The design of our team is to separate the spacecraft and the Mars lander after been lunched, and the spacecraft will visit 9 solar celestial bodies under the given restraint. The early pre-research work of the Mars exploration technology will lay an important technical foundation for our future’s Mars exploration and resource development. During the workshop, the technology and scientific interest of the deep space exploration and new concepts of the deep space exploration in the next 10 years were also discussed.
