Invited by PMO, Director of MPI Prof. Karl Menten made a short-term visit from May 5 to May 8, 2009.
During this time, Prof. Menten gave a talk named “APEX Submillimeter-wave Telescope and it‘s Sciences”. The recent work of the APEX telescope was shown in details in the talk. After visiting the Millimeter & submillimeter Lab of PMO, Prof. Menten discussed with some senior researcher about the research of the star formation, the research of T Hz science technology and T Hz observation in Antarctica Dome A, and so on. He has highly comments on our achievements in millimeter wave radio astronomy. Prof. Menten also visited the archaic astron institutes on the Purple Mountain. Prof. Karl Menten is a famous scientist in the field of radio astronomy. He has been the director of MPI since 1996, and gained “Karl G.Jansky Lectureship”in 2007, and published more than 220 papers in the international journal“The possible evidence of dark matter annihilation was found” of Purple Mountain Observatory was selected in “TOP 10 news of the basic research in China 2008” (2008-11-20) |
