Abstract:Large-scale solar activities, including prominence/filament eruptions, flares and coronal mass ejections, are widely considered as different manifestations of a single physical process, which is believed to have a close relationship with coronal magnetic flux ropes. In order to understand the physical processes of these activities, various theoretical models have been proposed to describe the eruption of coronal magnetic flux ropes. This presentation will introduce the catastrophes of coronal magnetic flux ropes as triggers for different kinds of solar activities, including both the basic concepts of the catastrophes and their relationship with other mechanisms.
