       Abstract

On September 25th, 2016, FAST will overtake Arecibo as the largest filled-aperture telescope in the world. By the time of this talk, we will have installed more than 98% of the panels and finished building the receiver cabin. The stressful and exciting period of commissioning and the so-called early science period will follow. In addition to bring FAST up to its design specifications, we also look to make discoveries in the field of the pulsars, masers, HI, and molecular spectroscopy. I will report the testing and the science plan of FAST for the next few years and draw particular attention to its immense potential in respective fields, including compact objects, cosmology, star formation, and gravitational wave.
