    Abstract

At redshift z~2, star formation and nuclear activity within galaxies are at their peaks while the morphological differentiation of galaxies is well under way. Recent observational studies suggest two evolutionary tracks of quiescent galaxies (QGs) formation: an early (z >~ 2), formation path of rapidly quenched compact star-forming galaxies (SFGs) fading into compact QGs that later enlarge within the quiescent phase (early tack), and a late-arrival (z <~ 2) path in which larger SFGs form extended QGs without passing through a compact state (late track). In this talk, I will present our latest preliminary results about how the structural properties of galaxies above 10^10Msolar evolved along two different tracks in the redshift range 0.5<z<3 in the five CANDELS fields, including the size, mass, concentration index (R90/R50), Sersic index n, projected axis ratio b/a, core (<1kpc) surface stellar mass density, and color gradients.
