    Abstract
Galaxies are thought to be formed within cold dark matter halos. The central and satellite galaxies are closely connected with the host and sub-halos respectively. In this talk I will introduce a recently widely used model `SHAM’ and its deficiency within halo occupation framework, and show how the model can be improved by making use of the full halo merger tree information. Thus obtained galaxy-dark matter relation can then be used to infer the evolution of galaxies in various aspects.
