    Abstract
Molecular emissions provide an important tools for diagnosing the ISM in regions with ongoing star formation. Because molecules behave differently and react differently to environment factors, together they serve as a broad probe of the different density components of the ISM. Maser activity and molecular emission structure in the Galaxy, nearby starburst, and power ULIRGs, will be analyzed in order to identify the characteristics of star formation regions. These results will be used to bootstrap the local properties to those of distant sources where the emissions are completely unresolved.
