     Abstract

The redshift distribution of submillimeter-selected galaxies (SMGs) has been a long-sought for goal ever since their discovery in the late 90s. While Keck spectroscopy has shown that the bulk SMGs with radio-identifications lie in the redshift range z=1-3, the possibility remains that a non-nebligible fraction of SMGs reside at extremely high redshifts (z > 4).
In this talk I will present the evidence for SMGs at z > 4 from millimeter surveys with MAMBO as well as from recent Herschel results.
