     abstract

Images from the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope survey of the sky will be analyzed for a wide range of phenomena. With 20 trillion photometric and temporal measure-ments covering 20 billion detected objects, this will produce the world’s largest database. A sample of several billion galaxies will enable maps of dark matter and several independent cross-checking probes of the nature of dark energy. The 30 terabytes of pipeline processed data obtained each night will open the time domain window on the deep optical universe for variability and motion.
