abstract
I will report on various projects that we have in progress at IRAM for detecting and imaging CO lines with the upgraded interferometer (PdBI), and measuring 1.2mm dust emission with the MAMBO camera. Most of the sources are submillimeter galaxies selected from Spitzer surveys. Mid-IR spectra and photometry, as well as radio data, are powerful in identifying AGN or starburts dominated sources, or composite objects.. Starburst dominated galaxies are generally more luminous in mm continuum and CO lines. However, many Spitzer selected z~2 ULIRGs are also weak mm sources and their CO emission may be detected with the current PdBI sensitivity. I will discuss which clues may be inferred from these observations about the properties, star formation rate, structure and evolution stage of these various classes of sources.
