       The group consists of 9 staffs, 1 postdoctoral researcher,2 Ph. D students and 4 M.S. students. Laboratory for Astrochemistry and Planetary Sciences at the Purple Mountain Observatory of Chinese Academy Sciences broadly interested in deciphering the origin and evolution of our solar system and planetary bodies through geochemical and isotopic means. We use state-of-art techniques to investigate a variety of extraterrestrial materials, including meteorites of asteroidal and artian origin, Moon rocks (from the Apollo missions and lunar meteorites), and other samples returned by spacecraft missions such as Stardust. Our goals are to decipher their formation processes and time scales, to resolve some important and basic questions in astrochemistry and planetary sciences, and eventually to provide solid evidence for the origins of elements, stars, the solar system and even life .

       Research interests:

.Search for evidence of short-lived nuclides in primitive meteorites;

.Geochemical, isotopic, petrographic and mineralogical study of Martian and lunar meteorites;

.Petrographic and mineralogical study of the Ningqiang carbonaceous chondrite

.Investigation of organic compounds in carbonaceous chondrites;

.Rare earth element geochemistry of silicate inclusions and iron isotope composition of silicate

.inclusions and metals from IIE irons;

.Laboratory study of pro-solar grains and cosmic dusts;

.Investigation of oxygen and iron isotopic compositions of CAIs and chondrules of carbonaceous chondrites;
